„I wish I had known that“- Workshop mit Richard Brennan in Berlin
I Wish I Had Known That!
Looking back at my 35 years of teaching I have discovered many ways of teaching that are simple and effective. Some of these I have learned from other wonderful and experienced teachers, others I have realised for myself. For example I struggled for many years trying to make sense of hands on the back of the chair and I avoided teaching it unless a pupil asked; when I discovered the fundamental reason I was surprised how simple it was. I have found many things in the Alexander Work are left unexplained which can cause confusion and all too often our pupils learn by rote instead of truly understanding the work.
During the workshop you will learn new ways of teaching table work, chair work, hands on the back of the chair, whispered ‘AH’ and various ‘positions of mechanical advantage’. You will even learn how to do hands on the back of a cabin bag! We will also look at erroneous preconceived idea which can greatly affect our emotional life and stop us being confident and reaching our full potential. Please come with your questions, your frustrations and your confusions. What you will take away will be a more confident and effective way of teaching.
